Womxn’s Body Autonomy Month

As above: we need sponsors and hosts and our preliminary asks have received a warm response. As we mourn the murder of Juniper Blessing, we, IN ADDITION, not competition, not subtractive – we ADD ON the mourning of the 171 women who were murdered in the U.S. the same month, along with the additional 58 women who died in childbirth as well.

Data:

Q1: current world population by sex, 2026 estimate

  • Women/females: about 4.13 billion
  • Men/males: about 4.17 billion
  • Difference: about 42 million more males than females
  • Share: about 49.7% female / 50.3% male

Q2: counterfactual without “missing women/girls”

UNFPA estimates about 142 million girls/women are “missing” because of son preference, daughter aversion, sex-selective abortion, neglect, abuse, malnutrition, or related discrimination. Our World in Data defines “missing women” similarly: women who would be alive absent sex discrimination, including sex-selective abortion and excess female mortality from infanticide, neglect, or maltreatment.
