Emergency Funding for Refugee Funding Transparency Project

Letter to a colleague who could potentially donate or be involved and wants to know more information.

1. There are multiple projects, so a good place to start is dusoma.com. In a nutshell, it’s about using technology and funding to drastically reduce poverty in a very short timeframe.

2. If someone were to donate $20,00 this month – this is where it would go: Gorm Pride 10 emergency funding plan: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17ts7Plp1mWxzSwBzCIplODvpTRkbiZ_Y0yV1xpSsng0/edit?usp=sharing

3. There are 2 things I am bootstrapping right now

– Universal Basic Income for the Gorom Pride 10

– the Dusoma: AI development team, building the software that is called Dusoma: AI for Humanity (Marla)

The reason I am doing UBI from my paycheck, before I’ve been able to do much fundraising is that I want to ensure that even if my big fundraising ideas fail, at least I helped somebody.

History 2020-2025
I began doing research on the Sub-Saharan African healthcare system 5 years ago. In 2024, I was getting nowhere in big pharma, got cancer and just want to make sure I helped actual people if I died. And it began an amazing journey – actually meeting and bonding with a wonderful family from the Congo/Rwanda who settled in Aurora, CO.

They helped me as much as I helped them. By helping them navigate life in America, I learned so much about the support gaps that exist – like the problems with translation apps (see Kinyarwanda.me blog).

Then the journey continued and I started to support more and more folks still in refugee camps Africa (Mahama – Rwanda, Kukuma – Kenya and Gorom – South Sudan)  – even if it’s only $25 – $100 per person per week. In exchange, the refugees I support let me into their lives. And now, with AI, we are able to create detailed case files, work with partners and keep testing programs. We have over 500 pages of exported text messages that describe the crisis in African refugee camps.  We will work with Open.AI to show the limits of the information intended to help people in refugee campls.

That said, with the loss of foreign aid, Africa is experiencing what I’m calling “Panic in Africa 2025” – today I quoted something to the Gorom Pride 10 about starvation in Ukraine that comes to mind a lot, seeing this situation.

The good people died first. Those who refused to steal or to prostitute themselves died. Those who gave food to others died. Those who refused to kill their fellow man died. Parents who fed their children before themselves died before their children did.

So I would love financial help until the larger funding comes in. See our 10-pronged plan. $20,000 will position us to raise $100,000, and then we can really start using AI and open, transparent accounting systems to make sure the money has the most impact. The goal is $18 billion.

The goal is not just buying food, but using AI to understand best practices and using the funding to build economies through universal basic income, massive online education, infrastructure investment and small business loans. And in a more transparent, tracked way that has ever been attempted.

GoFundMe is here, but for large donations, please contact me at kathryn71 at gmail.com – as we can work to avoid fees, and we can work with our fiscal partner to get you a receipt for your taxes.
