"Oh No, Anthropic’s CEO Said All Code Will Be AI Generated In a Year
It’s time to stop taking these AI entrepreneurs seriously
Why? Why, Mr. CEO of AI overlord Anthropic, why would you say that human coders would be made irrelevant? And then put a 12-month countdown on the arrival of their end of days?
Here’s the quote: “What we are finding is that we’re 3 to 6 months from a world where AI is writing 90% of the code. And then in 12 months, we may be in a world where AI is writing essentially all of the code.”
Where was your PR hack?
Look. You can’t take everything these tech zealots say seriously. And when the media — mainstream, tech, and otherwise — pick up nuggets like the above and then sprinkle in other dystopian bits from former CTOs of OpenAI and current CEOs of NVIDIA, without any thought put into why it was said or the context around it…
Well, I get it. Enjoy your clicks.
I’m a 20-year tech zealot myself. I’m a fan of AI and I’ve built it and sold it. Let’s talk about where the truth is.
Oh look, it’s over here in the middle...."

My comment:
Yes, these claims are insane, and this is why I troll Mustafa Suleyman on LinkedIN. Some facts:1. Health care systems still use fax machines2. Medical scans (like mammograms) and burned to CDs and sent through the mail3. In finance, we still fill out paper forms4. When you pay someone through a bank, they issue a paper check and send it through the mail5. A billion people on earth can't afford a phone.6. Credit card disputes are done through humans and email.7. Every line items of an insurance claim is negotiated by a human8. Midjourney can't make a logo with text.9. Health care has "data swamps" instead of usable data lakes.10. The social security software system uses COBALAnd then my story, I'm building a hosted AI app, so I can see the inputs. I thought it would be simple, as OpenAI's ChatGPT maker is such a great tool and so easy to use. It's not. I just hired a developer and paid $700 to build a prototype. I have a one-page list of skills they need to have to build a basic app.So this is total nonsense. Today alone I've gotten 3 error messages when working with large corporate sites. As someone said to me "You don't need machine learning, you need better software."Digital products are getting worse and worse, buggier and buggier. The goal of large corporations is to have a monopoly, or a choice between 2 crappy systems, and then you're totally stuck. You have to live with it - no customer service. No one to talk to when it doesn't work. No recourse when you get overcharged.
