Dump Tesla Stock from Vanguard Mutual Funds

by | Mar 17, 2025 | Uncategorized

How to dump your Tesla stock (TSLA) when it’s in a mutual fund is explained here: https://dusoma.wordpress.com/2025/03/15/dump-tesla-stock-tsla/

This is part 2 – how to find out what companies are in your mutual fund, and who to contact. This is about using my relative wealth privilege to affect change.

Start by clicking on the mutual fund, in this case

VTSAX- Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund Admiral Shares

  1. Click on the fund. View “Portfolio Composition”. It will give you a list of all the companies in the fund.

2. List looks like this. In this Vanguard Admiral fund, it DOES include Tesla (TSLA) funds. So this fund needs to be re-allocated. The normal client services person can do that, or you can do it on your own.

3. Find the people who curated this fund. They are listed:

Vanguard staff:
Gerard C. O’Reilly – Principal, Portfolio Manager
Walter Nejman – Portfolio Manager, Vanguard
Michelle Louie, CFA, Principal Portfolio Manager
Nick Birkett, CFA, Portfolio Manager

4. Let’s find contact information for these folks, because people change their funds every day, so if I/we don’t tell them, it won’t have impact.

Also, it is their job to be paying attention to public sentiments. If they have reason to believe the stock will tank, it is their responsibility to take action. They don’t have to agree with my politics, but they do have to “help me reach my goals” and my goals is to not hold an asset that I believe will lose value both short and long term.

5. Post this on social media, and tag them.

6. Message them on LinkedIn or social media platform of choice.
